Project Overview
Transcar Projects was tasked with one of the most challenging logistics operations in Malaysia's history at that point: the transportation of the largest bullet tanks ever moved within the country. These massive tanks, each weighing 600,000 kg and measuring 64 meters in length with an 8-meter diameter, required meticulous planning and execution to ensure their safe and timely delivery.
The Challenge
Transporting such large and heavy tanks presented numerous challenges, particularly in navigating Malaysia's infrastructure. The sheer size of the tanks required a detailed route study to identify and mitigate any potential obstacles, including road width limitations, bridge load capacities, and overhead clearances. Furthermore, the tanks needed to be delivered without any damage, injury, or delay, necessitating precise execution within exact tolerances.
Engineered Solution
Transcar Projects initiated the process with an exhaustive route study, identifying the most feasible path from the manufacturing site to the installation location. The route was then carefully analysed, and method statements were meticulously crafted to ensure every aspect of the transportation process was accounted for.
The method statements, which were engineered and approved by both Transcar and the relevant client team, covered every detail, from load distribution on trailers to the specific timing of movements to avoid traffic disruptions. Specialized heavy-haulage hydraulic trailers were utilised to manage the tanks' COG and immense weight, ensuring stability and safety throughout the journey.
Outcome
The project was executed flawlessly, with the tanks delivered to their final destination without any incidents.
