When a scheduled service is not enough, chartering a vessel is the answer. Here is how it works.
A ship charter gives you dedicated use of a vessel, or a portion of it, for a specific voyage or period.
Three types apply most often in project logistics. Voyage charter. A single movement between named ports. Lump sum. Time charter. Fixed period.
The charterer directs routing and itinerary. Bareboat charter. Full operational control including crewing. Used for the largest or most specialist operations.
Chartering is not simply booking a ship. Vessel selection, loading engineering, port pre-approvals and documentation all need to be managed as one connected operation.
This is work Transcar has carried out for clients in energy, oil and gas and heavy engineering for decades.
