The freight rate is not the right place to open a project cargo conversation.
The rate covers the transport. It does not cover the demurrage if port access was not pre-approved. The emergency airfreight when a critical component misses its window. The crane standby when the load arrived but clearance did not.
On a major capital project, the freight budget is a fraction of the construction budget. The consequences of a logistics failure are not.
The right question is not what the freight will cost. It is what the operation requires, and whether the partner managing it has the depth to deliver.
