Newsfeed Update
Some of the tallest cargo at sea travels standing up. The US$750 million Phase II expansion of Colombo West International Terminal in Sri Lanka has opened, doubling capacity from 1.6 to 3.2 million TEUs. Source: terminal operator announcement, October 2026. Expansions like this usually bring more quay cranes. Ship-to-shore cranes are one of the few things shipped fully built: upright on a heavy lift vessel, then rolled or skidded onto the quay rails. So the voyage plan is as much about stability, wind and bridge clearances as it is about weight. That's how we plan any awkward shape. Vessel stability and route clearances come first, then quay strength, then the roll-off. Port equipment is no exception. Moving tall or top-heavy equipment? Send us the general arrangement drawing and we'll start with the voyage plan. #HeavyLift #ProjectCargo #BreakBulk
