OOG/HL and breakbulk are not always the same thing. Knowing the difference matters before you book.
OOG/HL cargo can travel via a number of specialist modes including containers when it suits. Be that using Flat racks, Open tops or Platform units . It still moves through container terminal processes.
Breakbulk cargo does not have to be OOG/HL and is loaded directly into a vessel's hold or on deck as individual pieces or bundles. Often used when the item is too large, too heavy, or structurally unsuitable for any container frame or simply unsuited to the container lifting and handling process.
This can generate more manual handling, greater weather exposure and can increase damage risk. This is why planning and expert control is essential.
