ODC, abnormal load, special transport permit. Words you hear often in heavy haulage. Here is what they actually mean.

ODC stands for Over Dimensional Cargo. Freight that exceeds a country's regular road transport limits on height, width, length or weight.

Exceeding those limits triggers a formal process: route surveys, bridge assessments, utility mapping, escort coordination and permit applications, each with its own timeline depending on the jurisdiction. Some countries resolve permits in days. Others take months.

At Transcar we manage ODC permit coordination as a standard part of every heavy haulage operation. Our clients do not need to navigate it alone.
