Newsfeed Update
If a carrier loses your 50-tonne compressor at sea, how much do they owe you? Often far less than it's worth. Under the Hague-Visby Rules, which cover many international sea shipments, carrier liability is capped at 666.67 SDR per package or 2 SDR per kilo, whichever is higher. (An SDR is an IMF currency unit.) For that 50-tonne unit, the cap is around 100,000 SDR. If it's worth millions, the rest comes from your cargo insurance, or your budget. We go through liability and insurance with clients before shipment, so nobody finds the gap after a loss. Shipping a high-value unit? Give us the value and weight, and we'll show you the size of the gap. #ProjectCargo #ProjectLogistics
