Flat rack, open top, or platform container. The wrong call can mean a rebook at the terminal gate.
Each OOG container type solves a different problem.
Open top: overheight cargo that can be loaded from above and fits within standard width.
Flat rack: cargo that exceeds container width or needs side access. No sidewalls. Controlled overhang allowed.
Platform: extreme footprints where neither of the above applies.
Booking the wrong type is not a paperwork correction. The carrier re-rates the shipment, adds handling charges, and may require a revised stowage plan after cut-off.
At Transcar, we validate equipment selection against the cargo's exact oversize profile, carrier rules, and terminal constraints before anything is confirmed.
One thorough step at the start. Far fewer problems later.
