Before a single piece of heavy and/or out of gauge cargo moves, someone has to check the route first.
That is what a route survey is. And it is one of the most underestimated steps in specialist haulage.
A route survey is not simply checking whether a road exists. It confirms that every bridge along the way can carry the load. That every overhead cable, traffic light, and roundabout can physically accommodate the width and height of the transport. That turning radii work for the trailer configuration. That local permits are obtainable and what conditions they come with.
On a project involving a large pressure vessel or an industrial transformer, skipping a route survey is not a cost saving. It is a risk that can mean re-routing mid-journey, permit violations, or a convoy that cannot complete the move.
At Transcar, the rule is simple. No heavy cargo moves without a route survey.
