Newsfeed Update
An AN-124 is not loaded the way a commercial freighter is loaded. The loading sequence is engineered before the aircraft is on stand. The order cargo goes aboard determines the aircraft's centre of gravity at every stage. Get the sequence wrong and it is not a loading inconvenience. It is a flight safety issue. The AN-124 is one of the largest cargo aircraft in the world, used for project cargo that is urgent, over-dimensional and tied to a fixed window. What makes it viable is not only its size. It is the control a charter provides over the loading sequence, the ground handling team and the departure window. At Transcar, AN-124 charters are a regular part of our air operations. Preparation begins weeks before the load date, with cargo dimensions, weight distribution and tie-down points confirmed at both ends before the aircraft is committed.
