A method statement is the engineered document that defines, step by step, how a specific piece of cargo will be lifted, loaded, secured, transported and discharged.
It is submitted to the client, port authority and marine warranty surveyor for approval before any operation begins. It covers lift plan calculations, load distribution, lashing arrangements and the sequence of every physical operation.
If it is not approved, the cargo does not move. If it is wrong and cargo moves anyway, liability follows.
